Senior Accountant

We are seeking a Senior Accountant with a strong understanding of US GAAP, German HGB, and internal guidelines and procedures. This role involves close collaboration with the company, providing advice on accounting and compliance issues, leading the implementation of new systems, special projects, and accounting standards. You will support the Country Accounting Manager with process improvements and ad-hoc analyses.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of the accounting records in accordance with US GAAP, German HGB, and internal guidelines.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including all internal and external reporting.
  • Manage intercompany billings and reconciliations, fixed assets, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly VAT returns, summary reports, and annual financial statements according to HGB.
  • Respond to inquiries from tax authorities and collaborate with tax consultants and external auditors.
  • Lead the update and improvement of local processes and policies.
  • Provide guidance and training to the local team on policies and procedures to ensure compliance.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree in business administration with a focus on accounting, controlling, or finance, or a comparable commercial education.
  • Relevant professional experience in accounting.
  • Experience in an international company with a matrix structure is ideal.
  • Proficiency in US GAAP, HGB, and the preparation of annual financial statements and analyses.
  • Very good German and good English language skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks under high workload and deadline pressure.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office and SAP environment (FI/CO/MM/BW).
