Our client is a leading European investor and developer in flexible and renewable energy infrastructure, with a rapidly growing portfolio of large‑scale energy projects across Germany and other European markets. They are looking to appoint an experienced Finance Manager to take ownership of financial management across German holding and project entities.

This is a hands‑on, end‑to‑end finance role with strong exposure to senior stakeholders, project teams, lenders, and external advisors. The position plays a key role in ensuring robust financial governance, statutory compliance, and high‑quality reporting in a dynamic project‑driven environment.

 

The Role

The Finance Manager will be responsible for the full financial lifecycle of German entities, including accounting, reporting, cash‑flow management, statutory compliance, and project financial control.

It is a part-time role (3 days a week) becoming full time after 9-12 months. 

 

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Accounting

  • Oversee day‑to‑day financial operations for holding and project companies
  • Manage accounting, invoicing, payments, and financial controls
  • Process purchase invoices and ensure compliance with German VAT requirements
  • Execute payment runs through German bank accounts

Cash Flow & Forecasting

  • Manage group cash flow and short‑ to medium‑term forecasts
  • Monitor liquidity and identify funding risks early
  • Provide cash‑flow reporting to senior management and lenders

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts under UK GAAP and IFRS
  • Reconcile German HGB and IFRS reporting
  • Deliver variance analysis, management commentary, and ad‑hoc financial insights

Tax, Compliance & Audit

  • Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and tax obligations
  • Prepare and submit German VAT returns and support local tax filings
  • Lead the year‑end audit process and act as main contact for external auditors

Budgeting, Forecasting & Project Support

  • Manage annual budgets and in‑year forecasts
  • Monitor development and capital expenditure (DevEx / CapEx)
  • Support project analysis, business plans, and investment cases

Lender & Stakeholder Reporting

  • Prepare financial information for lenders in line with financing agreements
  • Support financial reviews and presentations for internal and external stakeholders

 

Background & Experience

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent)
  • Strong experience in financial accounting, reporting, and analysis
  • Solid knowledge of IFRS and German HGB
  • Experience preparing statutory accounts and managing audits
  • Fluent in German and English (written and spoken)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear insights
